Stretch marks are a common problem for many people, especially for women after pregnancy. They appear when the connective tissue in the dermis (the middle layer of the skin) is stretched beyond its normal limits due to rapid expansion or contraction of the skin. This can occur as a result of a number of things such as rapid weight gain or weight loss, subsequent pregnancy, prolonged use of some medications and so on. As a result of stretching of the skin collagen production is interrupted as these collagen fibers are not aligned correctly weakened ending with fine scars that appear under the top layer of the skin.
There are a number of natural remedies for this condition, but the most effective is lemon juice. It is rich in vitamin C, citric acid and fatty acids that help in exfoliation of dead skin cells and help healing and removal of stretch marks and other skin lesions, acne and scars. Although lemons are acids having sufficient moisture to hydrate the skin and are also excellent agents skin whitening. They contain anti-bacterial properties that rashes associated with skin relieves.
Using lemons to remove stretch marks is very simple. Just cut a lemon in half and rub the affected skin with it. Squeeze the lemon juice slightly to release about stretch marks, and apply in a circular motion. Leave for 10 minutes and rinse with warm water. Repeat procedure twice a day for a month and will notice stretch marks disappear completely.
You can also use lemon in a combination with cucumbers (equal parts of lemon juice and cucumber juice), or olive oil extra virgin and mix a few drops of lemon juice in a little honey.
