If anyone needs a reminder of the absurdity of the US stance on drugs, consider the fact that cannabis is classified as a drug of Class 1 with “medical use no currently accepted” and a “high potential for abuse”, while alcohol is not even included in the controlled Substances Act (CSA).
Of course, alcohol is a drug, as any psychologist will tell you, with a high potential for abuse; and not used as a treatment for medical conditions. Moderate use of alcohol may have some health benefits, but heavy use can bring a series of negative health impacts.
However, alcohol is left to states to regulate, untouched by the fateful 1970 CSA Nixon’s war on Drugs began and led to the DEA. As we’ve reported, this war against freedom was aimed at blacks and “hippies” that led to the counter-culture force demanding an end to militarism.
That 60s mentality of peace and love was a threat to the system, since the movement was growing by a principle of non-aggression, in contrast to the increase in US hegemony underscored by the tragedy Vietnam War.
Psychedelics and cannabis were an integral part of this understanding of nonaggression, and were subjected to removal of alcohol, while ignoring.
This was the perfect situation, and science shows us why.
In a recent study published in Psychopharmacology, the researchers studied “the acute effects of alcohol and cannabis on aggression opinion of users of alcohol and cannabis.”
The results confirmed what has long been suspected alcohol facilitates aggressive feelings in heavy users of alcohol, while aggressive feelings are decreased in regular users of cannabis.
After abstaining from alcohol and cannabis for a week, subjects received single doses “of alcohol and cannabis and placebo or placebo, respectively.”
subjective aggression was measured before and after exposure using established test methods and, secondly, to observe levels of testosterone and cortisol.
“Subjective aggression increased significantly after exposure aggression in all groups, while being sober. Alcohol intoxication increased aggression subjective while cannabis decreased aggression opinion after exposure aggression. aggressive responses during the PSAP they increased after alcohol and cannabis declined following regarding placebo.”
Interestingly, the “group of cannabis” also psychedelic mushrooms are used much more frequently in his “use of other drugs” that made the “alcohol group.” We have informed about the amazing ways in which magic mushrooms can benefit awareness .
the study is a sad reminder that the war on drugs is fraught with negative consequences, as in this case arguably quelled the trend of non-aggression in society as militarism have embedded in the American psyche.
