ayurvedic-diet(NaturalHealth365) Today, let’s take a closer look at the Ayurvedic diet, seasonal food and how it can help us to prevent cancer.

Most of us change some aspect of our daily life according to the seasons. In winter, heavy jackets out of the closet, while in summer in most of the world, it’s time for shorts and flip flops. Would not it make more sense practical, then, that our eating habits should also change according to the seasons?

ayurvedic seasonal food means eating foods that are in alignment (both physically and energetically) with a particular time of year. Most of the world has adopted the standard American diet with devastating results, including outside diagrams rates diabetes , heart disease, neurological disorders and cancer .

Therefore, the question remains, could ayurvedic seasonal supply an answer to a life free of disease and better health in general?

Ayurveda is based on preventive health and concerns the harmonization of all aspects of a person’s mind, body and spirit, not just the physical body. the body is seen as a set of natural elements :. Fire, water, air, earth and ether (space)

The way these elements are expressed are called doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. In Ayurveda, each individual is unique and express the different doshas. At the same time, each Dosha also corresponds to specific functions in the body.

The Pitta Dosha is connected to water and fire, and metabolism (including cell metabolism). Kapha is governed by water and land and is responsible for health and cerebral spinal fluid, the growth of new tissue and the lining of the stomach lining. Vata is associated with air and ether so it governs all movement in the body, including nerve impulses, respiration, elimination and circulation.

unbalanced doshas can lead to illness, while balanced doshas leads to health and vitality. Ayurvedic Ritucharya is a systematic way to balance the doshas through eating habits designed to be in alignment with the rhythms of nature (which are also our own natural rhythms).

In Ritucharya, each station corresponds to the Dakshinayana, or the gradual movement of the earth around the sun, and seasonal changes correspond to certain tastes and changes in the doshas. The summer months, for example, involve an “accumulation” and then a “aggrevation” Pitta, which can lead to aggravation of joint summer, such as skin rashes, inflammation and fevers.

In response, ayurvedic Ritucharya recommends eating foods Pitta-soothing during the hot summer months, such as fruits and vegetables, ghee (to Ayurveda considers “tridoshic”), sweet foods and astringent flavors and bitter , such as lemon and coconut water.

Even in the birthplace of Ayurveda, the S.A.D. diet is taking a toll. According to an August 2011 published in ayu, the international quarterly journal for research in Ayurveda: “The World Health Organization has identified India as one of the nations that will have most of the disorders lifestyle in the near future, “especially for people under 40 who have adopted western lifestyles.

Whether or not practice ayurvedic Ritucharya, change your eating habits to focus on what is fresh and in season only makes practical sense!

Here are four reasons why eating what is growing in your region – right now – it’s a good idea, no matter where you live:

  1. Organic , regional and seasonal vegetables have a higher nutritional value. The international quality under Food impact, one of the largest studies to analyze the commercial production compared to organic produce grown locally, it was found that organic products containing up to 40 percent more antioxidants and significantly higher levels of essential minerals.
  2. In season , organic products usually travels fewer miles to get to you. writer sustainable food and researcher Brian Halweil claims in his book Eat Here: Pleasures grown into a global supermarket: “If you harvest a little early so you can withstand an experience of long-distance shipping, will not have the full complement nutrients that could have had. ”
  3. Eating seasonal products is compatible with healing . This is because nature has designed this way! Think about apples, growing in the autumn in many regions of the US They can help the body to cool before winter. On the other hand, a lot of green leafy vegetables spring is alkalizing and detoxifying, while cucumbers and melons grow in summer normally helps our body to keep cool and many are considered anti-inflammatory as well. A study by the University of California-Davis 2003 also found that organic foods are simply better in general for cancer prevention.
  4. The food is organic and in season tastes better . If you have ever taken a bite of a tomato grown, you know what I’m talking about. The taste alone could make you want to visit your local farmer market or grow their own vegetables, even if all you have is a porch, a pot and a little garden soil! Speaking of growing your own, did you know that studies have shown that gardening can actually help your gut and prevent depression
  5. Buying foods that are in season puts you more in touch with their community . Do something fun with your family this weekend that also supports better eating habits, as well as local agriculture and the environment: attend a local farmers market to get those seasonal vegetables, fresh fruits, cheeses and meats. According to a 2014 study conducted by the Food and Drug Administration, the number of farmers’ markets in the United States increased to more than 8,000 in that year compared to just under 2,000 in 1994. Most markets tend to be located in densely populated areas, so the chances are there’s one near you!
