We have long known that exercise is beneficial to our health. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends 30 minutes of moderate aerobic activity three days per week of vigorous exercise. A person who exercises regularly increases blood flow and therefore oxygen supply to the cells, control body weight, build muscle, help prevent diabetes, heart disease, reduce the risk of some cancers and strengthen the muscles.
A study by the AHA concluded that, in addition to health benefits, exercise leads to financial savings. The study included 26,000 US adults 18 years divided into two groups – healthy people and people with some form of cardiovascular disease. The healthy group, almost half reported compliance with the AHA recommendation for physical exercise of moderate intensity every day. pregnant women, people with low birth weight and those who could not walk up 10 steps were excluded.
Study participants who already had a form of cardiovascular disease, especially those with heart attacks, coronary artery disease, stroke, arrhythmia and peripheral arterial disease, had higher health costs, including hospitalizations and medicines.
Excitingly, were reported similar savings among the healthy group exercisers. It decreased risk of hospitalization, and even in the group of high risk patients, the need for medication was significantly reduced. The AHA says that based on these numbers, we could save billions of dollars in costs of health care if everyone were to follow proper exercise guidelines.
spends $ 2,500 on health
When thinking about this issue, the benefits are significant, and the possibilities are (almost) endless. Imagine an extra $ 2,500 in your pocket each year. There are a number of things you can do to invest more in their health with the extra money.
For example, many people who incorporate exercise into your daily life will also develop an interest in nutrition. When you start the day with a workout or brisk walking, eating a healthy breakfast will be higher in the priority list. Whole foods are more important, and if you buy at a farmer’s market or join a CSA, the costs will not trigger.
Another possibility for the money saved is to use some of it in a gym. There are cheaper options like Crunch and Planet Fitness – but advise against their pizza and donuts monthly days, as we believe that these are counterproductive to what we are trying to achieve in the first place. Some of these plans come without a contract and cost as little as $ 10 per month. Planet Fitness also has opportunities for circuit training and personal training sessions.
Another big success is boutique gyms like CrossFit Orangetheory Fitness and iLoveKickboxing . The average of these clusters, the cost is around $ 150 per month, although most of them also offer membership levels. The bottom line is, whether you subscribe to the membership of a cheaper or more expensive gym, you probably get to spend less money than you would if it did not work at all.
is still not convinced that exercise can be much more than a simple task? Let’s elaborate a bit more.
1. Exercise is not a punishment – it is a reward
think about it. If you are physically able to move, exercise, weight lifting, running or dancing, you’re one of the lucky ones! Use that body and get it going and see how good you will feel when finished. Your body releases endorphins, which cause a positive feeling in the body similar to morphine.
2. Exercise increases muscle mass and reduces body fat
It is well established that weight lifting exercises and build muscle, as a result, reduce body fat done. This is good news now but also later in life when your body starts to lose muscle mass naturally. By exercising ensures keep as much muscle mass as possible.
3. You’re going to live longer
Now there is a reason to exercise if you ever need one! Given the AHA study mentioned above, exercise can help prevent the onset of dangerous cardiovascular diseases that would otherwise rob you of good health, not to mention precious time.
4. That will grow new brain cells
Research has shown that areas of the brain that are stimulated by the exercise are also responsible for the growth, cognitive function and memory. Especially in older adults, exercise has proven to be a very effective way to improve memory and the ability to make decisions.
5. You’ll have a better sex life
Just think about how good it feels after exercise – and this feeling can last all the way into the bedroom. In addition, exercise increases endurance, muscular strength and endurance, which leads to better sexual function. Enough talk?
The release of endorphins and serotonin through exercise makes you feel happy. Some psychologists have begun to incorporate walking into their practice, as they are aware of the benefits of exercise in emotional well-being of patients.
7. It will improve your cholesterol level
Exercise has the ability to reduce LDL ( “bad”) cholesterol while increasing HDL ( “good”) cholesterol. If this is a concern in your life, then exercise (along with a good diet) will be the way to go.
8. That will help prevent diabetes
Diabetes is spreading in the US and other Western countries. Studies have shown that regular exercise regimen combined with a balanced diet, may be useful in preventing (or reversing) the symptoms of type 2 diabetes, reducing the need for medication.
With all the above reasons, we are convinced that see the benefits of regular exercise. It is noteworthy that whenever (sofa or seasoned athlete) starts, it will have to take it easy and have a talk with your doctor to determine the best way to proceed safely.
