Many parents give their children an oral suspension containing paracetamol when they have a fever. But the British pediatricians warn that acetaminophen can cause serious health damage later in life.
Alistair Sutcliffe is a pediatrician and professor of pediatrics at University College London and says that giving children paracetamol, put them at greater risk of developing asthma, kidney and liver damage and heart disease.
Royal Pharmaceutical Association (SIA) agrees and supports the view dr.Satkli. UK pharmacists advise parents to do more research on how paracetamol-based suspensions affecting the health of their children. Members of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) support the same opinion also.
Another useful tip for parents is that they should pay less attention to thermometers (which can often display incorrect values) and observe the behavior of their children instead. The child avoid drinking liquids with fever and suffers from fatigue.
