Here are some important steps to follow in case of a sprain or strain tips:
-Follow RICE therapy.
-R est- rest and limit all movement. Use a sling or crutches to support the limb if necessary.
-I cement Apply ice in a towel on the affected area for 20 minutes every hour.
-C ompress- cloth bandage wrapped firmly (not too much) around the joint / limb to reduce swelling.
-E levate- Raise the limb above heart level, even while sleeping. Avoid weight bearing or strain .
-Contact your doctor for further management.
