ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) – Since Halloween is over, it's time to get rid of those pumpkins.
The Discovery Center facilitated it with its annual sensational pumpkin event.
They took out their 400-pound giant handmade catapult to throw pumpkins into the air to be demolished when it landed.
About 150 pumpkins were crushed on Sunday.
The organizers say that this method to get rid of those flashlights is complete for pumpkins.
“Pumpkins turn full. They come from the farm, people buy and carve them. They come to the discovery center, ”said Mike Rathbum, associate director of the Discovery Museum. “We throw them. And then a farmer comes, picks them up and gives them to his sheep. ”
He also recommends composing pumpkins in his backyard as another environmentally safe way to get rid of his pumpkins.
