Almost everyone is aware today of the importance of protein in our diet. The protein directly affects our muscles, tissues and organs. Also directly it affects the development of these organs, including the brain. What if we do not get the necessary protein or any other of the many nutrients our bodies, not just our brain needs to function properly? It is through the use of our mind (or brain, whichever period is preferred) that are able to absorb the facts and figures needed and process it into useful pieces of information.
Nutrition refers to the nourishment of our bodies, our ability to keep it healthy and functioning as it is supposed to do. Our ability to provide the body with all the necessary nutrients, vitamins and minerals, so we continue to thrive in our daily life processes.
How do we determine that we are providing the essential nutritional needs? That knowledge comes by educating ourselves about what our individual needs, the needs of our family, and then take that knowledge and apply it to the food we buy, we prepare, and that our families consume. Again, through the use of our minds, we are able to take guidance provided by the USDA, the development of a journal and establish what our daily needs are, so take care of our necessary nutritional needs.
According to the guidelines published by the USDA, calorie needs vary from one age group to another, one gender to another. So how do you determine what your individual needs? You can setup a journal for recording your daily caloric intake for about a month. Record your weight every day. If no weight is not won during that month, you are eating your recommended calorie level in order to maintain their weight. Now, take that calorie information, consult a nutritionist about the recommended daily amounts of vitamins and minerals you need. Take two pieces of information, calorie intake and nutritional requirements, use the food pyramid and comprise a combination of foods that will help you achieve this recommended daily intakes, and still be enjoyable meal. Now has an individualized healthy eating plan.
During absorb the instructions to plan a healthy and balanced diet, we used our mind throughout the process. Our ability to think and reason, our level of education and exposure we receive outside input on a daily basis affect our environment, but especially our health. Our decisions are based on the information we have previously absorbed. Our food, exercise and recreation options are no exception. What happens is that these options can affect our health immediately.
Perhaps now you have a clearer idea of the opportunities we have for our brain to affect our health. It is more than just conscious decisions. It is the result of brain development during childhood, adolescence and adulthood. It is a result information we have absorbed previously, and will continue to receive input.
