The first same-sex couple to compete in the Olympics this year are hockey players in British grass, Helen and Kate Walsh Richardson. They began dating during the Beijing Olympics and celebrated their bronze medal victory in the 2012 Olympics by getting hitched. Kate and Helen remain professionals in the field, but admit that dating a fellow athlete has its advantages, especially, support each other during times of contraction and off the field.

Katelin Snyder and Nareg Guregian (USA)
The US rowers met in Princeton, New Jersey, while training to be on the US team Remo in 2013. soon we were engaged a few years later, and then married the same year. The Rio 2016 Olympic Games saw Katelin (making his debut appearance in the Olympics) lead the US team to victory in the event rowing eights of women.

Carmen Marton and Safwan Khalil (Australia)
They met as children in the 2002 World Junior Championships Taekwondo in Greece. And after spending considerable time quality time together in different competitions, Carmen and Safwan have been inseparable for almost two decades. Carmen was especially attracted by the fun, warm and charming personality Safran. Carmen converted to Islam after a few years of dating, and married Safran under Islamic law in 2012. The current Olympics was quite the family reunion for them as Carmen and Safwan were accompanied by Sister Carmen, Caroline Marton, a close friend Hayder Shkara and Safwan coach and brother, Ali.

Brianne Theisen-Eaton and Ashton Eaton (Canada and USA)
This is a unique pair, with both being in two Olympic times and find love across borders . Canadian heptathlete Brianne Theisen and American decathlete Ashton Eaton met and began dating in the track team at the University of Oregon. The two decided to marry after the London Olympics 2012. They even share a coach, who officiated their wedding. Recently, Ashton faced quite a lot of backlash when he wore a red baseball cap that says ‘Canada’ to support his wife in a game. Filippo Magnini and Federica Pellegrini (Italy)
Italian swimmers began dating in 2011 and have been living together since 2012. Federica Italy represented as the only female Olympic champion, it has already established tonnes records and was the bearer of the flag of Italy during the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 opening ceremony. The couple made headlines when she posed nude alongside one of the leading publication in Italy.
