Bad news for chocolate lovers: chocolate seems to cause more reflux than any other food. It is a triple whammy:
1. Chocolate contains caffeine and other stimulants such as theobromine, causing reflux.
2. The chocolate is high in fat, fat and causes of reflux.
3. The chocolate is also high in cocoa and cocoa cause reflux.
Theoretically, the black chocolate is not as bad as high fat content of milk chocolate, but let’s face it, all chocolate is bad for reflux.
When it comes to acid reflux, there are certain foods that are almost universally problematic.
The best strategy is to avoid it altogether. But, unfortunately, often they constitute more than half of the diets of many people.
